Most of the ideas are tired or ones that are outdated.The topics seem low-interest and dull. I was not impressed with this book. I was looking for a good one for argument/ debate. I would not recommend this.
This is just outdated and doesn't really do much to help my writers with the new common core requirements.
Why We Must Run With Sissors is an entertaining read chocked full of ideas for teaching middle school students how to use persuasive writing effectively.

I really enjoyed the lessons and ideas in this book. I was just a wee bit disappointed because I was looking for elementary level persuasive writing lesson ideas. I have used some of these ideas and tweaked them to fit my purposes, so it was useful.

This amazing book is packed with persuasive activities, some extensive but most brief and powerful. As you can expect from Barry Lane, this book is also a lot of fun for both teacher and students.
